Students of the Azerbaijan Tourism and Management University at the Baku Zoological Park
Bachelor's and Master's students of the Faculty of Social Management at the Azerbaijan Tourism and Management University participated in a practical session organized at the Baku Zoological Park. During the presentation held at the lecture hall of the Zoological Park, students were provided with detailed information about the history, development path, reconstruction works, modern strategies of the Baku Zoological Park, as well as reintroduction programs aimed at returning endangered species, included in Azerbaijan's "Red Book," to their natural habitats.
A magnificent innovation at the Baku Zoological Park
Baku Zoological Park has become an official participant in the European Endangered Species Programme (EEP), implemented by the European Association of Zoos and Aquaria (EAZA). The EEP programme aims to conserve the genetic diversity of rare and endangered species, as well as their controlled breeding in captivity. As part of this programme, two Persian leopards (Panthera pardus saxicolor)— a female and a male were transferred to the Baku Zoological Park. This subspecies of leopard is included in both the Red List of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and the "Red Book" of the Republic of Azerbaijan as an endangered species.

The project "Green Trails" was held for the first time at the Baku Zoological Park. In addition to studying the morphology, biological features, ecology, conservation, and reintroduction of animals, the Zoological Park also organizes educational activities aimed at protecting flora, increasing green plantings, and improving the condition of vegetation. The main goal of the "Green Trails" project is to preserve the biodiversity of flora, as well as to spread knowledge about the stages of vegetation and proper agro-technical care for plants. The project also aims to foster a responsible attitude toward nature and environmental culture among children.
Students of the Faculty of Ecology and Soil Science at the Baku Zoological Park
At the Baku Zoological Park, lecture and seminar classes on the subject of “Animal Ecology” were organized for the 2nd-year students of group E010I from the Faculty of Ecology and Soil Science of Baku State University.
The first lemur cub in Baku Zoological Park
The first baby of ring-tailed lemurs brought to Baku Zoological Park from Eskişehir, Turkey, and Almaty, Kazakhstan, has been born. The mother lemur does not leave her baby, carrying it on her back and belly to protect it from danger. The active and healthy baby learns social behaviors and adapts to the environment by interacting with other members of the group.
Representatives of the European Association of Zoos and Aquariums (EAZA) visited the Baku Zoological Park.
At the request of the Baku Zoological Park, representatives from the European Association of Zoos and Aquaria (EAZA), a leading organization that plays a key role in setting global standards for zoos and aquariums, visited the Baku Zoo. The main goal of the visit was for the representatives to assess the current status of the zoo in order to evaluate its potential membership in EAZA.
The new inhabitant of the Baku Zoological Park is Simba
"Simba," a five-year-old male lion brought from the Almaty Zoo of the Republic of Kazakhstan, has become a permanent resident of the Baku Zoological Park. Initially, he was kept under veterinary supervision in the park's quarantine zone for one month. Later, he was moved to a permanent living area with two female lions, successfully completing the adaptation process, and they have now formed a family. The transfer of the male lion to the Baku Zoological Park was carried out as part of an international exchange program with the Almaty Zoo.
The clinical practice for students of Khazar University has been successfully completed at the Baku Zoological Park
From October 9 to December 1, 2024, as part of the joint collaboration between the Baku Zoological Park and the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Engineering at Khazar University, clinical practice was conducted for fifth-year students specializing in "Veterinary Medicine" in accordance with the curriculum. The program, covering both theoretical and practical aspects, provided students with the opportunity to apply their knowledge in veterinary science in real conditions, gaining detailed information about the treatment and care of animals. The practice was aimed at both meeting modern requirements and developing practical skills that allow students to apply theoretical knowledge gained during their studies.
Training sessions aimed at improving the welfare of animals have been held at the Baku Zoological Park.
From November 18 to 22, training sessions and seminars for keepers were organized at the Baku Zoological Park, conducted by specialists from The Animal Behavior Community, invited from Israel.
20 squirrels bred in the Baku Zoological Park were released into «Genjlik Park»
