Training sessions aimed at improving the welfare of animals have been held at the Baku Zoological Park.
From November 18 to 22, training sessions and seminars for keepers were organized at the Baku Zoological Park, conducted by specialists from The Animal Behavior Community, invited from Israel.
The main goal of the training was to ensure adherence to safety regulations while working with animals, improve their welfare and nutrition, enhance their care, and promote the application of modern approaches in enriching enclosures that align with the animals' natural habitats.
As part of the program, animal behavior was analyzed, and zoo employees were provided with detailed information on animal training methodologies and rules to correctly understand their needs and acquire specific skills. Additionally, to make the training process more effective, external experts conducted practical sessions in the enclosures with the keepers. Together with the specialists, the keepers made a number of structural changes in the enclosures to increase the animals' opportunities for activity and implement additional improvements to their living environments.
The training not only improved the animals' quality of life but also allowed for the creation of more interesting and interactive experiences for visitors to the zoo.
At the end of the training, keepers who successfully completed the program were awarded certificates by The Animal Behavior Community.
The Animal Behavior Community, which applies the latest scientific approaches to animal welfare, strengthens cooperation and knowledge exchange among specialists to better understand animal behavior and improve their living conditions. Such cooperation and training play an important role in promoting high standards for improving animals' lifestyles, as well as instilling modern care and enrichment approaches. Additionally, the training sessions are considered an essential step in ensuring the application of welfare standards for the zoo's animals and their protection according to modern requirements.
