The clinical practice for students of Khazar University has been successfully completed at the Baku Zoological Park
From October 9 to December 1, 2024, as part of the joint collaboration between the Baku Zoological Park and the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Engineering at Khazar University, clinical practice was conducted for fifth-year students specializing in "Veterinary Medicine" in accordance with the curriculum.
The program, covering both theoretical and practical aspects, provided students with the opportunity to apply their knowledge in veterinary science in real conditions, gaining detailed information about the treatment and care of animals. The practice was aimed at both meeting modern requirements and developing practical skills that allow students to apply theoretical knowledge gained during their studies.
On the first day of the activity, students were given detailed instructions on labor protection, safety, and the internal rules of the Zoological Park. Under the guidance of specialists, they participated in practical training at the veterinary clinic, and the bird, mammal, and aquaterrarium departments. Students obtained extensive information on the lifestyle, biology, ethology, diet, and etiology of diseases of the animals living in the Zoological Park. They also took part in the examination, treatment, and surgeries, such as amputations and ovariectomies, of various animals in the veterinary clinic.
In addition, the trainees enhanced their practical skills in accurately determining medication dosages depending on the disease and species of the animal, the correct use of equipment, and diagnostic methods. They also conducted inspections, palpations, percussions, auscultations, and thermometry, as well as performed electrocardiography (ECG), ultrasound (USG), and X-ray examinations.
The conducted training will play a significant role in the future careers of the young people, contributing to their development as highly qualified and professional veterinarians.
