Students of the Faculty of Ecology and Soil Science at the Baku Zoological Park
At the Baku Zoological Park, lecture and seminar classes on the subject of “Animal Ecology” were organized for the 2nd-year students of group E010I from the Faculty of Ecology and Soil Science of Baku State University.
In accordance with the curriculum, the students participated in a lecture held in the Baku Zoological Park’s lecture hall, where they received detailed information about various animal species residing in the Baku Zoological Park, their lifestyle, ecological characteristics, and ethology. In addition, the students had the opportunity to visually and directly observe animals, such as the bearded dragon, common boa, and leopard gecko, from the class of reptiles, as well as the Madagascar hissing cockroach and other species from the class of insects.
During a guided tour of the zoo, the students became acquainted with both local fauna species native to Azerbaijan and animals from various geographic regions. They also gained knowledge about endangered species listed in Azerbaijan’s “Red Book,” the protection measures in place for these species, the elimination of ecological threats to their populations, and the reintroduction programs being implemented by the Baku Zoological Park.
Organizing biology and ecology lessons at the Baku Zoological Park enables students to learn about the ecological characteristics of animals through direct observation, and to apply theoretical knowledge in a practical environment. This integrated approach to ecological processes has a positive impact on the development of students’ environmental awareness and systems thinking.
