Zangezur National Park
A species of bird of prey belonging to the family of the Griffon Vultures of the order of the Griffon Vultures of the class of birds. It is sedentary. It is found in the mountains of the Greater and Lesser Caucasus.. It is distributed at an altitude of 200-3000 m above sea level. Its mass is 5-12 kg, its body length is 93-110 cm, and its wingspan is 234-269 cm. Its upper body is brown, its lower body is brown, and its rump and tail feathers are black. Its young are darker in color. There is a “collar” of feathers at the base of its neck. It nests in dry mountain valleys and small caves. It nests in nesting camps in March-July. It lays 1-2 eggs and incubates for 52-54 days. The chicks are fed in the nest for 3 months. The chicks fly out of the nest in June-July. They reach sexual maturity at the age of 4-5. In the wild, they live up to 40 years. Their diet consists of animal carcasses. They are found in the mountains of BQ and KQ.
