Migrates to Azerbaijan for wintering. The main wintering sites are the Caspian Sea and large water bodies located in lowland areas. Overall, the range extends along the northern boundaries of the forest zone of Eurasia, from Scandinavia and Scotland to Chukotka and Sakhalin.
Whooper swans derive their name from the loud calls they use to communicate with one another while moving in flocks. They spend several hours of their daily activity feeding and preening. Swans are monogamous and usually remain with the same partner throughout their lives; therefore, they are widely regarded in nature as symbols of loyalty and eternal love.
