Leyla Aliyeva, Arzu Aliyeva, and Alena Aliyeva took part in an environmental campaign in Lankaran.

Vice President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and founder and head of the IDEA Public Association, Leyla Aliyeva, head of the Baku Media Center, Arzu Aliyeva, and Alena Aliyeva participated in a number of environmental events during their visit to Lankaran.

As part of the Green Marathon, the IDEA Public Association organized a tree planting event in the forested area of the Lankaran district. During the event, 1,350 Eldar pine saplings were planted with the participation of volunteers. Information was provided on ongoing work to expand green belts, restore forests, and protect the ecosystem.

It should be noted that the main goal of the "National Greening Marathon" (Green Marathon), jointly organized by the IDEA public association and the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, is to increase the area of green spaces, popularize the tradition of tree planting, promote environmental protection, enhance the biodiversity of our country's flora, and raise awareness about the protection of green spaces. As part of the "Green Marathon," it is planned to plant approximately 2 million trees across the country during the fall and spring planting seasons of 2025 and 2026.

Later, an animal release campaign was organized in the Hyrkyan National Park to enhance biodiversity. As part of the campaign, two raccoons, two foxes, and four lynxes were released into the wild. Following a joint investigation previously conducted at the initiative of the IDEA Public Association and with the participation of relevant agencies, raccoons illegally kept in catering establishments were found and rescued. The raccoons underwent treatment and rehabilitation at the Baku Zoological Park for four months and, after a full recovery, were released into the wild.

The foxes released into the wild were discovered by the affected individuals and handed over to the Baku Zoological Park. They underwent examination and treatment at the zoo's clinical facilities for a year, and after successfully completing their rehabilitation, were released into the wild.

The lynxes released into the wild during the campaign belonged to a species previously listed in the Red Book of the Republic of Azerbaijan. As a result of successful conservation efforts in our country, the population of these wild animals has increased, and the species has been removed from the Red Book. The rhinos released into the National Park are individuals bred at the Baku Zoological Park, whose natural population has been restored.

It should be noted that the aforementioned environmental campaigns are part of the IDEA Public Association's regular work in Azerbaijan to protect the environment and preserve biodiversity.
