It feeds on small animals and aquatic plants. During breeding, the female lays 20-25 eggs. Baby turtles 3 cm in length of emerge in 2-3 months. They are very active and already able to bite from the moment they emerge from the eggs. During winter, turtles bury themselves in mud at the bottom of the water and hibernate from October to May
