Packs of meerkats may include two or three family groups, a total of 20-30 individuals. Each group consists of a pair of adult animals and their offspring. Each individual participates in gathering food, keeping a look out for predators and taking care of the babies. The groups are matriarchal and the female can be larger than the male in size
