The coati is closely related to the raccoon. They are great tree climbers and can quickly change direction and go headfirst down trees by reversing the joints of their anklebone. It usually holds its tail straight up as it walks, but the coati changes the position of that tail to help keep its balance when it moves along branches high in the treetops
