Previously distributed almost within all North America, this bison is now found only to the north and west from Missouri. Bisons are very strong animals and can be very dangerous when provoked. They have excellent senses of smell and hearing. Despite its massive body, this clumsy-looking animal can easily reach a speed of 60-70 km/h when moving. They are also great swimmers.
