Temperate regions of mainland Eastern Australia, on the island of Tasmania and several islands in the Bass Strait.
Red-necked wallabies are mainly solitary, but will gather together when there is an abundance of resources such as food, water or shelter. They are mostly nocturnal and spend most of the daytime resting.
