Distributed in Africa
They live on the forest floor, animal burrows and under stones. They can reach record sizes for millipedes: up to 385 mm in length and up to 21 mm in diameter. It is impossible to count the number of their legs, as they constantly grow new ones. Lifespan is between 7 and 10 years. Millipedes defend themselves from predators with a variety of chemicals secreted from the body.
