Fisher's lovebirds are named for their lifelong pair bonding and strong social bonds. Interpersonal emotional bonds are very strong; the death of one individual can be accompanied by the emergence of depressive behaviors in the other. When they hear the same melody repeatedly, they tend to imitate it. Due to their high social needs, they show signs of stress when left alone for long periods of time, including feather plucking and other behavioral disorders.
