Widespread in arid and semi-arid regions of Australia, especially inland steppe and savannah areas.
Cockatiels are characterized by an upright crown of feathers on their heads that expresses their emotional state. This species is known for its high intelligence, willingness to learn, and social nature. They have the ability to imitate various sounds, understand and carry out simple verbal and visual commands. Sultan parrots show a special interest in human interaction, form close emotional bonds with their owners, and have a high need for social interaction. Males are usually more vocal, able to imitate a variety of sounds. With regular training, they can learn up to 300 words.
