The ostrich is a flightless bird, but it has very strong and long legs and can run at speeds of up to about 70 km per hour. Unlike emus, it has two-toed feet. The plumage differs depending on the sex: the feathers of males are mainly black, while the wings and tail are white; Females have gray-brown plumage. They move in small groups - usually with one male and several females. Their diet is mainly plants, but they also eat small insects and lizards. They often get their water needs from the plants they eat. Their eggs are considered the largest bird eggs in the world and weigh about 1.5–2 kg.
