Various habitats across Australia both inland and near the coast. They are most common in areas of savannah woodland and sclerophyll forest.
The emu is the second-largest living bird by height after the ostrich. The structure of feathers prevents overheating of the body, so they are active during midday heat. They can withstand a wide temperature range from -5 to +45.
